You must be 16 years of age or older to visit or use the Trading Times Site in any manner, and, if under the age of 18, must use the Site under the supervision of a parent, legal guardian, or other responsible adult.

What it is, how it works and appropriate use: Trading Times is an online service that matches the work skills and availability of candidates (people over the age of 50 years) with the ad hoc resource requirements of local employers.

The candidate profile and employer candidate search features may be used only by qualifying individuals seeking employment (over the age of 50 years) and/or employers seeking over-50 part-time or flexible-working employees. The site is open to all types of employers: individuals, sole traders, small companies, large corporations, charities and/or public sector organisations.

All candidate profiles and job postings on Trading Times are anonymous, until the employer chooses to pay the Trading Times ‘connection fee’. When we receive this payment, we share the contact details of the selected candidates and the employer with each other. Employers can choose as many or as few of the shortlisted candidates with whom to connect.

The flat £25 connection fee applies to each individual candidate, so £25 to connect with one candidate, £50 to connect with two, £75 for three, and so on. The £25 fee includes a payment service fee of 80p and VAT of £4.17 (at 20% rate).

Trading Times takes no active role in the contact between employers and candidates following the payment of the connection fee, and all contact is the responsibility of the employer and/or the candidate.

The Trading Times candidate/employer matching algorithm is dependent on the user candidate’s profile and employer’s candidate search criteria. As such, Trading Times cannot be held responsible for any mismatching that arises from the erroneous or otherwise incorrect information provided by either user party.

Employer users are not to post jobs in a manner that does not comply with applicable local, national and international laws, including but not limited to laws relating to labor and employment, equal employment opportunity and employment eligibility requirements, data privacy, data access and use, and intellectual property.

Trading Times reserves the right to remove any candidate profile, employer job posting or other user content from the Site, which in the reasonable exercise of Trading Times’ discretion, does not comply with these Terms.

Trading Times provides an environment for candidates and employers to find each other and facilitates the initial connection between the two parties which may or may not result in the agreement of a paid work contract. Trading Times is not involved in the evaluation, screening, vetting, interviewing, negotiating, contracting, performance management or payment of wages and salaries between employers and candidates. As a result, Trading Times is not responsible for the content of candidate profiles; the quality, safety or legality of the jobs; the ability of employers to offer the job opportunities; the ability of candidates to fill job openings or deliver the requirements of the job.

Trading Times strongly urges all candidate and employer users to confirm their work agreements in writing, including details of the responsibilities, work schedule, wages and deliverable commitments of the work.

All candidate and employer users are responsible for their own tax, national insurance, benefits and other financial and legal affairs in accordance with policies and directives put forward by the Department of Work & Pensions and HM Revenue & Customs.

Personal safety: Note that there are risks, including but not limited to the risk of physical harm, of engaging with strangers, underage persons or people acting under false pretenses. Trading Times users (both candidates and employers) assume all risks associated with dealing with other users with whom they come in contact through the Trading Times site and associated social media channels. Trading Times expects all users to use caution and common sense when using the Site and when engaging directly with candidates or employers by telephone, face-to-face meetings or through other means.

Privacy: Your privacy is paramount to us. We will never pass on, trade, exchange or sell your personal details to anyone without your expressed consent. We will also never submit your candidate profile to a prospective employer, or your company details to a prospective candidate, without first gaining your approval.

When you register with Trading Times and choose a password to protect your secure account, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password. If you become aware of any unauthorised use of your password, we recommend that you change your password immediately.

Fees: The Trading Times online service is entirely free to all candidate users. Candidate searches and anonymised matching are free to employers. Should the employer wish to connect with one or more of the matched candidates, Trading Times charges the employer a fee of £25 per connection (inclusive of all payment charges and VAT) for the names and contact detail of a single candidate (Trading Timer). The flat £25 connection fee applies to each individual candidate, so £25 to connect with one candidate, £50 to connect with two, £75 for three, and so on. The employer may pay to connect with as many candidates as he/she wishes. The £25 fee includes a payment service fee of 80p and VAT of £4.17 (at 20% rate).

While Trading Times makes every effort to match candidates to every job, this cannot be guaranteed as the number of matches depends on the candidates’ skills set and the supply of skills within a local geography.

All payments are made online via Trading Times’ payment partner, Stripe. Trading Times does not take a cut or percentage of any payments resulting from paid work contracted or agreed between the two parties.

Trading Times plays no part in the employer’s decision to hire a candidate, nor does it play any part in drawing up and/or implementation of contractual or payment arrangements between the two parties. As such, Trading Times cannot get involved in any dispute that may arise between employers and candidates relating to contract terms, hire rates and/or payments.

When a payment is made on the Site the transaction is final and not disputable unless unauthorised use of your payment card is proved. If you become aware of fraudulent use of your card, or if it is lost or stolen, you must notify your card provider in accordance with its reporting rules. Trading Times will not refund payments if the employer feels that the interview or work performance of a candidate does not live up to the expectation set by his/her anonymised profile.
